Hello,
Just a quick progress report from the CalEDLN effort:
Project descriptions from our regional databases have been
standardized and shared with the state's project descriptions using
our new networking techniques. Take a look at the result of our
contribution in the attached two screenshots, from the geographic
search tool at CERES. Some of us thought there would be a lot of
overlap, but no! Our data is in yellow, the state's Natural Resource
Project inventory (NRPI) is in green, and you can see how well our
data fills in some geographic gaps.
To use this search engine, go to http://casil.ucdavis.edu/ceicol/.
Start by opening the blue boxes where you can make your choices. Zoom
in using the shift key and your mouse to drag a box; pan just by
dragging with your mouse. Click on a marker to get a summary of the
project, and in there is a link to the complete record. You can type
keywords into the "Search Term" box, after which you should click
"Refresh Search".
A lot more interesting work is being done- this was just something
that was easy to show. I'll send more of these snippets when I can.
Deanne
